There are many types of goldfish that have what’s called telescope eyes, where the fish’s eyes protrude out from the head. There are many types of telescope eye varieties, including the Demekin, Ryukin, Black Moor, Celestial Eye, and Panda Moor. Telescope Eye goldfish varieties need a safe tank environment, without aggressive tankmates who may attack, bite, and damage the protruding, vulnerable eyes. The tank should also be clear of any pointy decorations that may damage the eyes. You would think with such large eyes that these type of goldfish would have excellent vision, but just the opposite is true. Black Moors is a popular type of telescope eye goldfish. The eyes of the Black Moor are very large, sometimes each eye is as large as the goldfish’s body. Of course, the other distinctive feature of the Black Moor is that the fish is entirely black, fins, tail, body, head, and eyes. All these unique features makes the Black Moor a very popular type of goldfish because it is so much fun to look at.
