Like all other tribal tattoos, Egyptian tattoos are also based on mythology and their ancient culture. Tattooing was not much developed at ancient times but all women in tribe used to get tattoos having design in the form of parallel lines and shapes.

Modern Egyptian tattoo designs are taken from ancient art. These tattoos represent parts of pyramids or other structures. The very famous Egyptian tattoo known as the Ankh resembles to that of Christian cross and was considered the same before thousands of years. It is a symbol of magical protection and life.

Ankh symbol can be of different form. It can be small and discrete or larger and dramatic. It suits best on ankle, upper arm or shoulder. Other than Ankh tattoo, Eye of Hours tattoo is also famous which also known as Egyptian eye tattoo. It represents right eye of the falcon and design below eye represents tear drop.

Eye tattoos were famous for gang tattoos as it stands for protection. You might see some time modified Eye of pyramid tattoo contain eye of Horus with pyramid. Other than these, Hieroglyphics tattoos which are symbolic hence best suited on upper arm and Anubis tattoos are also famous.
