Building Chest Muscles for Track and Field Activities

My son was recently recruited for the track and field team for his high school. This is a good thing I think. Any exercise is good for a child and track and field will keep him busy and out of trouble. Yet, now he is obsessed with building body strength and I think he may be taking this too far. He has been on the Internet for the past two hours looking for chest exercises for men. He thinks his pectorals are too weak for the sport. Tomorrow he goes in for his yearly physical and I plan on mentioning this to his doctor. He may be able to recommend exercises which are appropriate while still cautioning my son about going overboard and hurting himself.
